THE JOURNEY BEHIND THE BADGE

To say the B Corp certification process is difficult would be a massive understatement. The non profit network behind the movement, B Lab, does not just hand out this certification to anyone who claims to be eco friendly. They require you to undertake the B Impact Assessment, which is an incredibly rigorous audit of every single part of your business.

I have wanted to achieve B Corp certification since 2019 but kept putting it off because the process was simply too overwhelming to tackle on my own. A very special thank you must go to Rosie and Fleur at Impact Focus who stepped in to help. They specialise in getting companies certified and they were absolutely brilliant. They held my hand through every single question, providing constant support, feedback and guidance. They told me exactly what information, documents and policies were required for every section of the assessment. Their expert guidance helped me verify our charitable drinks, the London Living Wage we provide to our vulnerable team members who are overcoming homelessness or past convictions and track the thousands of trees we’ve planted and protected for every event. I honestly would not have been able to navigate this without Rosie and Fleur and I highly recommend their services to anyone looking to get certified. They made the process easy and stress free.

SHATTERING THE BENCHMARK

To pass the assessment and become a B Corp, a company needs a minimum score of 80 points. For context, the median score for ordinary businesses who take the test is just 50.9. When we finally received our results, we were absolutely blown away. Better World Bar Hire achieved an outstanding verified score of 102.5. This score does not just mean we passed. It means we are officially the highest scoring B Corp mobile event bar in the world. It proves that our commitment to putting the planet over profit is not just a marketing tagline, but a world class, verified reality that outperforms some of the biggest sustainability leaders on the globe.
